A colorful pallet of unique perspectives

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is considered a neurobiological developmental disorder characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication and behavior. Stimuli and information seem to be processed differently in the brain. People with ASD are likely to recognize one or more characteristic features, such as noticing details, the need for logical explanations or evidence, high sensitivity to environmental sounds and images, difficulty with change, and problems with empathy and social interaction. In addition, there are wide variations among individuals with ASD; what is strongly present in one person may be barely noticeable in another. A person with autism may withdraw from social contact or, on the contrary, have a great need for interaction. Communication can be challenging, with difficulty sensing the intentions of others, and some people are very talkative, while others say less. There may also be limitations in imagination, leading to a lack of imagination or, conversely, losing oneself in one's own fantasies. Having ASD can affect all areas of life, such as relationships, spare time, work and education.
